Cockermouth Scottish Country Dance Club

The Cockermouth SCDC  (formerly Derwent SCDC) was established over 50 years ago and has a thriving membership of dancers ranging from beginners to advanced.

We meet every Thursday evening at the Methodist Church Hall, Lorton Street, Cockermouth CA13 9RH.

The class starts at 7.00pm and welcomes all including beginners, the teacher is Angela Garrison and we dance until 10.00pm with a break for tea. The evening usually includes a technique session to practice steps and formations and lots of dancing; some new ones and some that are more familiar and danced regularly at dances in our area.

The club holds many social dances each year, a November dance for St Andrew’s Day, a Christmas party dance in December, a spring dance in March and a summer dance in July all at various venues around the Cockermouth area.

Every two years we aim to hold a Day School for intermediate and advanced dancers, our next date will be on 7 October 2017 and  our teacher for this event will be William Williamson accompanied by Ian Slater.
